Mah Ming and Salamatian Score in U15 Losses in Kelowna

The U15 AAA Greater Vancouver Canadians dropped both games of a road series in Kelowna over the weekend (Dec. 13-14), losing 6-1 and 10-1 to the high-powered Okanagan Rockets.

Both games took place at MNP Place against a second-place Rockets club that is now 15-1-0-0 on the season. The Canadians’ two losses dropped the squad to 0-16-0-1.

In Saturday’s game, Jack Mah Ming scored his team-high sixth goal of the season, but the Rockets’ Aidan Potash scored three goals of his own to power Okanagan to a 6-1 triumph. Eric Wang picked up the lone assist in Mah Ming’s goal.

On Sunday, Kayvon Salamatian scored his fifth goal of the year, but the Rockets once again had too much offense for GVC to handle in the 10-1 decision. Magnus King and Carter DeWolff both picked up assists on Salamatian’s tally.

Through 17 games, King and DeWolff are tied for the team lead with five assists apiece, while Mah Ming and Salamatian are tied for the lead with nine points each. DeWolff also has eight points on the year to lead all GVC defensemen.

Next up for the U15 Canadians, a home-and-home series against the league-leading U15 Fraser Valley Thunderbirds (16-2-0-0) this weekend (Dec. 20-21), with Saturday’s game held at the Summit Centre at Abbotsford at 1:00 p.m. The rematch is at the Richmond Olympic Oval, scheduled for 8:30 a.m. the next day. These will be the last two games before the Christmas break, with only 11 more regular-season games to follow for 2025-26.
