U15 Canadians Drop Back-to-Back Games vs. Thunderbirds
The U15 AAA Greater Vancouver Canadians dropped both games of a home-and-home series against the Fraser Valley Thunderbirds over the weekend, losing 6-1 in Delta and 5-1 in Abbotsford.
These were the first BCEHL games for GVC since October 26-27 in Prince George. The Canadians are now 3-9-0 through 12 league games.
Saturday’s game was played at the Planet Ice Delta, the home rink of the VW Giants. It was a home game for the Canadians, who were not able to play at the Richmond Oval due to rink unavailability. Braelyn Nunley scored his sixth goal of the season in the third period to tie for the team lead in that department, GVC’s only goal of the contest. Andre Kwan made his sixth start of the season in goal for the Canadians.
On Sunday at the Abbotsford Centre, the Canadians fell again despite Maxwell Clemens’s sixth goal of the season, tying him for the team lead in goals with Nunley and Leander Han. Kaz Patrick-Russell got the call in goal for GVC, his sixth start of the season.
Through 12 games, Brian Woolfenden leads the team with 16 points and 11 assists, and his five goals are the second-highest total on the club. The goal-scoring lead on the team is shared by Han, Nunley, and Clemens, each with six goals on the year.
Next up, the Canadians will take on the Valley West Giants (6-7-0-2) on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1 in a home-and-home series. The Saturday game is taking place at the Planet Ice Delta at 4:30 p.m., and the Sunday finale is at the Richmond Oval at 11:15 a.m. Both games can be seen on playfullscreen.com.
