U15 Canadians Drop Both Games vs. Blazers on the Road

by K.P. Wee

The U15 AAA Greater Vancouver Canadians lost both games on the road over the weekend to the Thompson Blazers, losing 5-2 and 8-2.

On Saturday at the Art Holding Memorial Arena in Chase, B.C., Brian Woolfenden and Zacary Prokop both scored for GVC, but the Blazers had two goals in the first period and two more in the second for a 4-2 lead. Thompson then added an insurance marker with 1:32 left for the 5-2 triumph.

On Sunday at Kamloops Memorial, the Blazers scored five times in the second to take a 6-0 lead en route to the 8-2 win. Noah Law and Leander Han scored for GVC.

Officially, the Canadians have dropped five games in a row. Per the BCEHL website, the Canadians’ home win on Dec. 14 vs. the NW Hawks has been reversed and goes into the books as a forfeit loss, the second defeat in the current streak.

Because of the forfeit loss, the Canadians’ record is 4-14-0-0 through 18 games.

Offensively, Leander Han leads the team with 10 goals, while Brian Woolfenden and Maxwell Clemens are second with seven apiece. Woolfenden has a team-high 12 assists and 19 points, while Han and Braelyn Nunley are tied for second with 16 points.

The U15 Canadians’ next league games will be Jan. 11-12 as they are now on a Christmas break from the BCEHL schedule.
