U15 Canadians Score 10 Goals Over Weekend, Beats Hawks Saturday

The U15 AAA Greater Vancouver Canadians bounced back nicely from the BCEHL’s U15 showcase event the previous week, scoring 10 goals in a home-and-home series against the U15 Vancouver North West Hawks over the weekend (Feb. 14-15).

The week before, the Canadians had lost all four games at the showcase without scoring a goal.

This time, the Canadians rebounded with a seven-goal effort on Saturday, beating the Hawks 7-4 on Saturday at the Canlan Ice Sports North Shore. Carter DeWolff and Misha Krutous each had two goals, and Zonglin Li, James Wills, and Jack Mah Ming also scored, as the Canadians jumped out to a 4-1 lead en route to the victory.

Three of the goals came on the power-play, and DeWolff ended the night with three points as he also picked up an assist. Yugo Imoto had two assists, while Yuyang Sun, Alexandros Melissinos, and Eric Wang also recorded assists.

On Sunday, the Hawks salvaged a series split with a 6-3 win at the Richmond Olympic Oval. Tate Roden, Jack Mah Ming, and Finn Carkner had the goals for the Canadians, with Roden also picking up a pair of assists. Mah Ming and Zonglin Li each had an assist as well.

The Canadians are 2-25-1-1 on the season, with one game to go in their 30-game BCEHL schedule. Jack Mah Ming leads the team with eight goals and 14 points, while Carter DeWolff and Yugo Imoto are tied for the team lead in assists with seven apiece.

The U15 Canadians will wrap up their regular-season schedule on Feb. 21 at the Richmond Oval against the Vancouver North East Chiefs. The game is scheduled for 5:15 p.m. and can be seen on playfullscreen.com.
