U15 Canadians Stopped by Blazers

The U15 AAA Greater Vancouver Canadians were outscored 8-1 over the weekend (Oct. 25-26) at home by the U15 AAA Thompson Blazers, losing 5-1 on Saturday and trailing 3-0 on Sunday before a player injury suspended the rest of the contest. 


Both games were held at the Richmond Olympic Oval. 


On Saturday, Zonglin Li scored for the Canadians in the third period to break up the Blazers’ shutout bid, his first goal of the season. Ryder Cook played well in the GVC nets in the loss.


On Sunday, AJ Kwok stopped 29 of 32 shots in a game that was suspended with 13:04 left in the second period due to a player injury. The 14-year-old stopped stopped 16 shots in the first period and 13 in the abbreviated second frame. 


Entering this weekend’s action, the leading goal scorers for the U15 Canadians are Jack Mah Ming and Kayvon Salamatian, who are both tied for the lead with two gaols apiece. Magnus King leads the team with four assists and four points. 


Next up for the U15 Canadians, a home-and-home series against the Vancouver North East Chiefs on Nov. 1-2. The Saturday game is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. at the Richmond Oval, and the Sunday rematch is set for 10:45 a.m. at the Scotia Barn.
