by K.P. Wee

The U15 AAA Greater Vancouver Canadians travelled to Nanaimo over the weekend and got back into the win column, sweeping the Vancouver Island Royals with 6-3 and 2-0 victories on Saturday and Sunday to snap a two-game losing streak.

The Canadians had lost back-to-back games to the NE Chiefs during the previous weekend.

On Saturday at the Cliff McNabb Arena, the Canadians overcome 2-0 and 3-1 deficits by scoring the game’s last five goals and pulling out the 6-3 triumph. Jayden Rodas scored twice, including the game-winner on the power play 2:57 into the final period. Henry Goldman also scored two goals, with a short-handed marker in the third, and Nicholas Harris and William Trolland added goals for GVC.

On Sunday at the Frank Crane Arena, Henry Goldman and Nicholas Harris scored for the Canadians, while Joshua Read notched the shutout, as the Canadians completed the sweep with a 2-0 victory.

With the three goals on the weekend, Goldman now has a team-high seven on the season. Rodas, meanwhile, has six goals on the year, as does Trolland.

The Canadians improve to 5-6-0-1 on the season.

The U15 Canadians’ next league games will be Nov. 25-26 against the Fraser Valley Thunderbirds in a home-and-home series. For scheduling information and other news, be sure to visit the BCEHL website.
