U15 Canadians Swept at Oval by Rockets
The U15 AAA Greater Vancouver Canadians played their first home games over the weekend at the Richmond Olympic Oval, losing both contests to the U15 AAA Okanagan Rockets 8-2 and 3-0.
On Saturday, the Rockets scored three goals in the first 3:09 of the contest, before Boden Spratley (with his first of the season) and Brian Woolfenden (his second) scored 1:35 apart late in the first period to make it a one-goal game. Okanagan, though, scored five unanswered goals to close out the lopsided 8-2 victory. Caden Chou picked up two assists for the Canadians, and Koen Lee also added a helper as well.
On Sunday, Kaz Patrick-Russell stopped 39 of 42 shots faced, but the GVC offense was completely shut down, as the Canadians dropped a 3-0 decision. After the Rockets struck three times in the first period, Patrick-Russell stopped all 24 shots faced over the final 40 minutes to keep GVC in the game.
The two losses drop the Canadians to last place in the U15 standings, as they are 1-5-0 through six games played.
Next up for the U15 Canadians in BCEHL action, a weekend series against the U15 AAA Valley West Giants (1-2-0-1) on Oct. 12-13. The Saturday game is at the Langley Events Centre at 1:30 p.m., while the Sunday contest is scheduled for the Planet Ice Delta at 4:00 p.m. Both games can be seen on playfullscreen.com.
