The U15 AAA Greater Vancouver Canadians returned to BCEHL action over the weekend (Jan. 6-7) following the Christmas break, taking three out of a possible four points in Chase, B.C., against the Thompson Blazers.

The Canadians lost the first game in overtime before winning the second game, both at the Art Holding Memorial Arena.

The Canadians, fifth in the U15 standings, are now 7-10-1-2 on the season.

On Saturday, the Canadians took 4-2 and 5-3 leads before ultimately falling 7-6 in overtime. Evan Borisoff and Noah Tait both scored in the first period, while Connor Ma and Nicholas Harris added goals in the second to put the Canadians ahead 4-2. After the Blazers cut the lead to 4-3, Jayden Rodas put GVC ahead 5-3 with 8:37 left in the second.

Alas, the Blazers stunned the Canadians with three straight goals to take a 6-5 lead, before Henry Goldman forced overtime with the tying goal with 59 seconds left in regulation. A late GVC penalty put Thompson on the power play, and the Blazers capitalized by scoring the game-winner 56 seconds into the extra period. Despite the loss, goaltender D’Angelo Kai Brual played well in the GVC net to help the Canadians pick up a point in the standings.

On Sunday, the Canadians scored the final three goals of the game to snap a 1-1 tie in a 4-1 victory. Evan Borisoff, Jayden Rodas, Maxwell Clemens, and Christopher Gar Bo Tang scored for GVC, with Rodas scoring the game-winner midway through the second period.

Borisoff’s two goals on the weekend give him seven on the season, while Rodas’s pair of goals give him nine, tied for second on the team with Henry Goldman and just one back of team leader William Trolland.

The Canadians will play their next game on Wednesday, Jan. 17, at 7:30 p.m. at the Richmond Olympic Oval against the Vancouver North West Hawks. The game can be streamed live at playfullscreen.com.
