U15 Canadians Take Three Points in U15 Pat Quinn Classic
The BCEHL’s U15 division had a bye weeknd, but the U15 AAA Greater Vancouver Canadians were still busy this past week, as they played four games in the Pat Quinn Classic U15 Elite Invitational in Coquitlam, Delta, and Burnaby between Thursday and Saturday.
The tournament features some of the top U15 teams from across North America, including six other BCEHL clubs alongside GVC. It provides an opportunity for players to be showcased to WHL and affiliated scouts.
The Canadians won one of their four games, securing a total of three points in the tournament (with each win worth three points).
Thursday, Nov. 14 (morning): SLS U15 Prep 6, U15 GVC 3 (in Coquitlam)
Thursday, Nov. 14 (evening): U15 Cariboo 5, U15 GVC 3 (in Coquitlam)
Saturday, Nov. 16 (afternoon): U15 NW Hawks 9, U15 GVC 4 (in Burnaby)
Saturday, Nov. 16 (evening): U15 GVC 7, Wenatchee Wild 14U 4 (in Delta)
Kaz Patrick-Russell played in three of the four games in goal for GVC, earning the team’s lone victory and finishing with a 4.78 goals-against average. Andre Kwan appeared in two games for the Canadians.
Offensively, Brian Woolfenden had a team-high nine points, which was tied for second in the division scoring race. His five goals also led the Canadians, and that total was tied for third in the division. Woolfenden notched two goals in the opening game and had the game-winner in the finale.
Leander Han also had a productive tournament with two goals and five points.
Zonglin Li and Miles Lewinson each scored two goals as well, while Boden Spratley, Maxwell Clemens, Zacary Prokop, Jeffrey Yang, Keenan Mak, and Koen Lee each scored a goal in the tournament.
The U15 Canadians (3-7-0-0) return to BCEHL action on Nov. 23-24 against the Fraser Valley Thunderbirds (7-4-1-0) at the Planet Ice Delta on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. and at the Abbotsford Centre on Sunday at 7:00 p.m.
