U17 Canadians Swept in Home-and-Home vs. Chiefs

The U17 AAA Greater Vancouver Canadians saw their two-game winning streak snapped over the weekend (Oct. 7-8) as they dropped both games of a home-and-home series against the U17 AAA Vancouver NE Chiefs.

The Canadians (3-2-0-1) lost 7-4 at Burnaby’s Scotia Barn on Saturday, and then fell 4-1 at the Richmond Olympic Oval on Sunday.

On Saturday, Trevor Chin scored twice in the third period, and Aidan Mark and Sorash Ramlal also had goals for GVC, but the Chiefs scored three times in the first and three more in the third in their 7-4 victory. The Canadians, who never led in the game, closed the gap to 2-1, 3-2, and 4-3, but two power-play goals by the Chiefs midway through the third period proved to be too much for GVC to overcome.

On Sunday at the Oval, the two teams played to a scoreless tie through the opening 20 minutes before the Chiefs struck for three goals in the second period, including two in the final 2:31. Trevor Chin notched his third goal of the weekend for GVC (and team-high fifth of the season), scoring 4:20 into the third to get the Canadians on the scoreboard. A power-play goal by the Chiefs with 2:29 left, though, closed out the scoring in the 4-1 decision.

Next up for the U17 Canadians, a showcase weekend in Langley on Oct. 14-15, as they take on Thompson (2-4-0-0) on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. and the Chiefs (4-1-1-0) on Sunday at 5:45 p.m. Both games will take place at the Canlan Ice Sports Langley and can be seen on playfullscreen.com.
