U18 Canadians Drop Both Games vs. Chiefs
The U18 AAA Greater Vancouver Canadians, fresh off a four-game tournament in the Western Sport School Challenge (WSSC) last week, remained winless in BCEHL play after dropping both games of a home-and-home series over the weekend (Oct. 7-8) against the U18 AAA Vancouver NE Chiefs.
The Canadians (0-4-0-0) lost 7-3 on Saturday at the Richmond Olympic Oval, before falling 8-1 on Sunday at Burnaby’s Scotia Barn.
On Saturday, the Canadians took a one-goal lead three separate times, with Lucas Epp, Ryan Ashe, and Jack MacFarlane scoring for GVC, but each time the Chiefs came back to tie it. With the score 3-3 in the third period, Vancouver North East struck for four goals in an eight-minute span and prevailed 7-3.
On Sunday, the Canadians scored first, with Marcus Kwong notching his first goal of the season three minutes into the contest, but the Chiefs scored three times in the first period and never looked back. Vancouver North East got a goal in the second and then four more in the third to complete the sweep with the 8-1 triumph.
With their tallies on Saturday, Ryan Ashe and Jack MacFarlane are tied for the team lead with two goals apiece.
