U18 Canadians Lose 10-0 and 13-0 to Thunderbirds

The U18 AAA Greater Vancouver Canadians were unable to contain the Fraser Valley Thunderbirds over the holiday weekend (Oct. 11-12), losing both games of their home-and-home series, 10-0 on Saturday and 13-0 on Sunday.

The U18 Canadians are the only winless team in the division, with an 0-6-0 mark through six games. Despite their struggles, the Canadians are also, by far, the least penalized team in the division, averaging just 4.2 penalty minutes per game, with the second-least penalized club (Valley West Giants) averaging over nine minutes.

In Saturday’s game at the Abbotsford Centre, Fraser Valley scored four goals in each of the first two periods en route to the 10-0 final. GVC was outshot 49-13 for the game.

Sunday’s game was at the Richmond Ice Centre, with the Thunderbirds’ five first-period goals setting the tone in the 13-0 contest.

Next up, the U18 Canadians will take on the Valley West Giants (2-3-1) in a home-and-home series on Oct. 18 and Oct. 22. The Saturday game will be at the Richmond Oval at 2:30pm and the Wednesday rematch will be at 7:45pm at the Langley Events Centre.
