U18 Canadians Swept by Chiefs in Home-and-Home

The U18 AAA Greater Vancouver Canadians were unable to keep up with the U18 Vancouver North East Chiefs this week, losing 10-0 on Tuesday (Sept. 30) and 7-1 on Sunday (Oct. 5).

The Canadians are 0-4-0 to start the season.

On Tuesday at Scotia Barn in Burnaby, the Canadians kept it close through two periods, surrendering two goals in the first and two more in the second to trail 4-0. The Chiefs, however, erupted for six in the third to seal the 10-0 rout.

On Sunday at the Richmond Olympic Oval, Aidan Pang kept things close again by shutting out the Chiefs over the game’s first 16 minutes before Vancouver North East scored four quick goals in a four-minute span to take a 4-0 lead.

Maddox Davis broke the shutout in the third period on a 5-on-3 power play, his first goal as a member of the Canadians, but GVC was unable to mount a comeback as the club fell to 0-4-0 with the 7-1 defeat.

Lorenzo Pazurik picked up the lone assist on Davis’s goal.

Despite the lopsided scores, Pang provided the Canadians with spectacular goaltending as he faced numerous high-quality shots by the Chiefs.

Next up for the U18 Canadians, a home-and-home series against the Fraser Valley Thunderbirds (2-2-0) on Oct. 11-12, with the first game happening at the Abbotsford Centre at 4 p.m. and the finale scheduled for 8:30 p.m. at the Richmond Ice Centre.
